Nutrition forms a basis of the health of women since every cell, tissue and organ in the body requires nutrients to operate effectively. Food is not just fuel to the daily activity. It furnishes the components of hormones, enzymes, defense and body, and tissue healing. Inequalities or absence of nutritional intake requires the body to always adjust and this may result in fatigue, diminished immunity, hormonal problems, and lowering of strength over time. Females are socialized to have mixed messages about food which are usually based on weight or beauty not healthy eating. Nutrition consciousness is changing the limitation to nourishment. It makes women see food as something supportive and not something to dominate and be scared of.
Nutritional requirements of women vary with life. Different pressures are put on the body at adolescence, during such reproductive years, during pregnancy, after childbirth, and during menopause.
